Summary:

  • Don Parcher of the Boulder Time Bank presented about timebanking and their experience.

  • Community Officer Hana Ruiz reported that she was away for a month, so did not have time to pull our stats, but, in general, crime is down except for porch pirates and vehicle thefts.

  • neighbors shared resources about requesting trees through Denver Digs Trees

Summary:

  • Mayoral candidate Andy Rougeot shared his platform and took questions

  • Project Updates: Michal is signing up volunteers for alley cleanups in spring); Karen is seeking folks to help with creating a strong and sustainable Association org structure in preparation for our annual meeting April 4, 2023.

  • Project Pitches: Karen presented several project ideas and the group voted on which were most interesting. Projects and votes:

    • 4 votes: revive the Timebank (a past project where neighbors exchanged goods & services through hours)​

    • 1vote: revive the Welcome New Neighbor program (a past project where gift baskets were delivered to families who moved into the neighborhood)

    • 4 votes: 2023 Garden Party & Plant Swap (an event that was revived this past spring)

    • 3 votes: start some neighborhood clubs (book, knitting, walking, etc.)

    • 5 votes: start a study|liaison group to ensure neighborhood voice in the York Street traffic study (we learned that a study is planned to determine potential changes to traffic patterns on York)

  • One-minute business plugs: Karen plugged Sweet Sweetz & Fire Root Collective Self-Defense and Yoga

  • Door Prizes: 2 $5 Sweet Sweetz gift cards (donated) and 8 Zoo tickets (thanks to neighbor Katherine Emanuel) were awarded. Congrats to Paul and Catheryn who had the closest birthdate!

Summary:

  • The Research & Review Committee met with Scott Burton (City Planning Office) to explore the possibility of angled parking on 28th to mitigate parking issues caused by increased business activity. He will review and get back with us.

  •  The Block-by-Block Clean Up project is beginning the planning phase. Contact Michal if interested in participating. There are 76 blocks in our neighborhood. Join this website to join the group!

  • Cece (grew up in the neighborhood) & partner, Jake, are still looking for a location in the neighborhood for a Deli. Negotiations with Abe, the owner of Frank's Market, are not moving forward.

  • DPD Resource Officer Ruiz reported that all crimes are down.

  • Cecelia Jones & Jake Riederer shared their hopes to open a deli in the neighborhood.

  • Historic Denver will conduct a survey in the neighborhood. Contact for more info.

  • A traffic study is planned for York Street.

  • Neighbors near 28th Ave are concerned about lack of parking. The Assn Research team will create a study group. Email if interested

  • A Block-by-Block Clean Up project is forming. Email if interested.

  • Michelle Jeske presented about Prop 2I (Strong Library, Strong Denver) and requested support.
